Description
Fine art photography of Sacre Coeur by Georgia Fowler
Paris has many famous and instantly recognisable sights and if you have the energy the impressive grandeur of Sacre Coeur is no exception. The first Christian church built on this site was around 475 A.D.
It's distinctive white stone is from Chateau-Landon, which is known for it's high content of calcite. In damp weather calcite leaches out of the stone, which keeps the monument chalky white.
On warm evenings locals and tourists gather on the steps below the church, that overlook the city to listen to music and enjoy each other's company.
