"Rue du Calvaire" is another of Montmatre's dizzying stone stair walkways. Once the haunt of many an artist in its heyday, it's now a open gallery for Montmartre's many street artists. Their canvas is the facade of the tall buildings. Whether or not you believe their hurried lines warrant a permanent place on the street scene is a different matter. But art comes in surprising forms. So stop and consider it - their medium tells a private story in a public place.
